LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR ANNOUNCES BOOK DRIVE FOR ABORIGINAL YOUTH

In the tradition of former-Lieutenant Governor James Bartleman, the Honourable David C. Onley will launch a book drive that will begin on Tuesday, January 1^st, and last until Friday, January 18^th. Only brand new children’s books will be collected during this drive.

As in the past, new books can be dropped at any Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment throughout the province and, within Toronto, at any Toronto Police Services station.

“During this special season, I encourage all Ontarians to purchase a book or two for our native youth in Ontario’s northern regions,” said Lieutenant Governor Onley. “These books can be dropped off beginning on January 1^st at my New Year’s Levee.”

To assist and encourage Ontario’s aboriginal youth, the Honourable James K. Bartleman initiated two book drives during his term as Lieutenant Governor. Ontarians opened their hearts and bookshelves in 2004 and 2007, and over two million books were collected.
